AECOM Government Services in Fort Worth, TX received a $78.8 million, 6-month extension to the US Army’s global maintenance support and service (GMASS) contract for AECOM’s work in Afghanistan.

Under the GMASS contract, AECOM provides general support maintenance, as well as construction and operation of maintenance facilities, living quarters, and offices at 2 US military bases, forward operating bases, and satelite locations in Afghanistan.

One of the facilities AECOM serves under the GMASS contract is Bagram Air Base...

Bagram Air Base is located in the eastern Parvan Province, approximately 7 miles southeast of Charikar and 27 miles north of Kabul. It is served by a 10,000 foot runway built in 1976 capable of landing large cargo and bomber aircraft.

The base is currently occupied and maintained by the US Army’s 5th Aviation Battalion and 6th Aviation Battalion; the USAF 455th Air Expeditionary Wing and units of other US services and coalition partners have tenant populations at the base.

Bagram Air Base has three large hangars, a control tower, and numerous support buildings. There are more than 32 acres of ramp space and 5 aircraft dispersal areas, with a total of over 110 revetments, which protect aircraft from attack.

The 6-month contract extension provides time for follow-on work to be competed and awarded. Period of performance for this extension is through March 31/10. Bids were solicited on the Web with 3 bids received by the US Army Contracting Center, Rock Island Contracting Center, in Rock Island, IL (W52P1J-05-D-0004).
