New Guns and Weapons Lab at US Army’s Picatinny Arsenal, NJ

APS Contracting in Patterson, NJ won a $10.4 million firm-fixed-price contract to complete construction of a new guns and weapons laboratory at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.

Picatinny Arsenal is the site of the Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC) and the US Army’s Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC). The center’s mission is to conduct research, development and engineering for all assigned weapon systems. Picatinny Arsenal covers 6,491 acres in Morris County, NJ, approximately 45 miles west of New York City.

The US Army Corps of Engineers New York District is overseeing construction of the guns and weapons lab and warehouse space…

These facilities will provide defense systems engineering laboratory high bay space, major and medium caliber laboratory space, renovated minor caliber laboratory and machine shop, renovated storage space, and gun mount foundations.

Special features of the facilities include security controlled lab and spaces that satisfy SIPRNET requirements, information systems, fire protection, and anti-terrorism/force protection. The new facility will have conference rooms, laboratory spaces and mechanical rooms. Supporting facilities include site work, paving, site improvements and utilities.

Work is to be performed at Picatinny Arsenal, with an estimated completion date of Feb 25/11. Bids were solicited on the web with 6 bids received by the US Army Corps of Engineers New York District (W912DS-10-C-0001).
