The U.S. Army Contracting Agency Information Technology, e-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center awarded to NextiraOne Federal (dba Black Box Network Services) in Herndon, VA a $9.8 million task order to upgrade and expand the voice switching environment at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The task order was awarded under a 5-year indefinite delivery/ indefinite quantity infrastructure modernization (IMOD) contract awarded in 2006 under the Installation Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP).

DID has more on the NextiraOne Federal contract as well as information on other recipients of the IMOD contracts…

Under the current White Sands task order, NextiraOne Federal will upgrade and expand the existing Nortel switch with a new Nortel Communication Server 2100 (“CS2100”) split core communications platform. The new Nortel system will provide geographic survivability, open architecture and a common processing engine with the existing switch for migration from wired telecommunications to wireless Internet protocol.

Other companies that received IMOD contracts under the I3MP are:

  • AT&T Government Solutions in Vienna, VA;
  • Avaya in Arlington, VA;
  • Bechtel National in Frederick, MD;
  • Engineering and Professional Services in Tinton Falls, NJ;
  • Federal Network Systems in Arlington, VA;
  • General Dynamics Network Systems in Needham, MA;
  • Lucent Technologies in McLeansville, NC;
  • Science Application International Corporation in McLean, VA; and
  • Siemens Government Services in Reston, VA.

The I3MP is a collection of telecom efforts (voice/data/cable/long-haul gateway/enterprise management) that modernizes the core enterprise information infrastructure at Army installations worldwide. Through the use of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products and contract installers, the I3MP is replacing legacy telecom systems with an integrated information system that is secure, interoperable and capable of passing voice, data and video traffic.
