Square D Wins $31.1M in Orders to Install Utility Meters at U.S. Naval Facilities

Square D Company in Palatine, IL won 3 firm-fixed-priced task orders worth $31.1 million for design and installation of electric, gas, steam, and water metering at U.S. naval facilities in Washington state. The meters will allow the U.S. Navy to monitor, allocate and manage electricity, natural gas, and water commodities at its facilities.

Square D competes for task orders under the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program with American Systems in Chantilly, VA and Weston Solutions in San Antonio, TX.

Here is a breakdown of the Square D task orders:

Square D will provide design, procurement, installation, and testing of building level advanced metering systems in support of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 at these facilities. The company will perform the work in Silverdale, WA (69%); Oak Harbor, WA (22%); and Everett, WA (9%), which it expects to complete by July 2011. Funds are provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. For the task orders, 3 proposals were received in response to a single task order solicitation by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Specialty Center Acquisitions in Port Hueneme, CA.

Square D (N62583-08-D-0137), along with American Systems (N62583-08-D-0136) and Weston Solutions (N62583-08-D-0138) were awarded AMI contracts last year in support of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps installations worldwide. The 3 contracts have a potential combined value of $250 million.
