Staffing the Pentagon Channel

Aug 31/11: Towne Group Media & Management in Columbia, MD receives an $8.4 million contract modification, subject to availability of FY 2012 funds, exercising the 3rd option year on the current firm-fixed price commercial service contract to support Pentagon Channel operations at the Defense Media Activity. Towne Group provides the channel’s editorial, creative and production staff, and there are separate expenses for the channel beyond that – such as satellite newsfeeds, for instance.

Towne Group was picked for this particular role in 2004, and the only other announced contract for this purpose was the $7.9 million 1st option period, from Oct 1/09 – Sept 30/10. The period of performance for this 3rd option starts with the new fiscal year, on Oct 1/11. The Defense Media Activity-East Contracting Office in Fort George Meade, MD manages the contract (HQ0028-09-C-0011).
