Aug 13, 2012 10:45 UTC- The US military’s hardened high-bandwidth AEHF-2 satellite has reached geostationary orbit successfully, without drama. That doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a big relief. AEHF-1′s propulsion had major technical failures, forcing the biggest space engineering save since Apollo 13.
- Brazil receives its first 2 S-70B Seahawk naval helicopters, which will begin to replace its existing H-3 Sea King ASW fleet.
- German customs have seized MiG-29 and Tu-142 engines sent by Russia to Algeria and India, respectively.
