Rapid Fire March 8, 2013: A Budget Too Far

  • The President Budget for FY14 may be delayed further to early April, in order to let Senate Democrats and the White House get in sync, according to the NYT. In the meantime Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) is working on the Senate’s version of a funding bill for what’s left of FY13, and the Senate will start considering the House’s CR/Appropriations bill (HR 933) on Monday.

  • Carl Levin, the Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, will not seek reelection in 2014. He will be almost 80 then.

  • The GAO recommends a number of methodological improvements to make future Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) savings projections more accurate.
