Oct 16/06: Gyrocam Camera Systems in Sarasota, FL received an additional $51.7 million firm-fixed-price delivery order under previously awarded contract M67854-06-D-5034, covering 140 of its Triple-Sensor gyrostabilized camera systems [PDF format] used for surveillance and early IED land mine detection. The contract also includes associated manuals, deployment kits, installation, integration support, fielding support, deployment blocks of repair parts, and associated training.

Work will be performed in various locations within the countries of Iraq and Afghanistan, and is expected to be complete by October 2007. This delivery order is a sole source award to Gyrocam Systems LLC based on an urgent and compelling need. The Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, VA issued the contract, which also included a $43.4 million order in June 2006 for 67 TS camera systems plus support. Those systems were slated for deployment on the USMC’s mine-resistant Cougar EOD/patrol vehicles; no specifics were given concerning the recent order.
