The U.S. Army Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC) awarded indefinite-delivery/ indefinite quantity contracts with cost-plus-fixed-fee/ firm-fixed-price orders to 5 companies to support the Army’s effort to get high-tech weapon prototypes in the hands of soldiers in the field as soon as possible. The effort, known as the Rapid Prototyping and Technology Initiative (RPTI), is run by the Army’s Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC).
The maximum value of the 5 contracts is $300 million.

Raytheon’s Network Centric Systems in Fort Wayne, IN won a $21.7 million cost-plus-fixed-fee and fixed-price contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop the Network Centric Radio System (NCRS). DARPA envisions two critical technologies for the NCRS: 1) a backbone radio architecture that enables IP versatile networks and 2) a radio gateway that enable legacy analog and digital communications systems to be linked together. The contract has a potential value of up to $155 million if all options are exercised.

Elbit Systems in Haifa, Israel, agreed to pay $34 million to acquire BVR Systems (1998) Ltd., a provider of training, simulation and debriefing systems for air, sea and ground forces. The transaction is subject to price adjustment as well as fulfillment of certain conditions, including receipt of all approvals required by law. The transaction will also include the re-employment of BVR’s employees by Elbit.
The merger affects, and is affected by, BVR’s recent debt financing agreement. BVR provides a range of services to militaries around the world…
BAE Systems Information and Electronics in Totowa, NJ received a task order (#0365) and option on a previously awarded contract worth $60.5 million to supply 62 ALR-56M radar warning receivers and 27 spares for the C-130J. The Defense Supply Center Warner Robins, Robins AFB in GA manages the contract (F09603-03-D-0001).
