Aug 30, 2009 10:25 UTCSmall business qualifier Ikhana/Choate-1 in Mt. Pleasant, SC won a $13.4 million firm-fixed-price contract for the construction of 2 child development centers at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC. The company expects to complete construction by June 2011.
Contract funds in the amount of $7 million will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with 41 proposals received by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, VA (N40085-09-C-3209).

The II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division, and 2nd Marine Logistics Group are located at Camp Lejene. The base’s 14 miles of beaches make it a major area for amphibious assault training, and its location between two deep-water ports (Wilmington and Morehead City) allows for fast deployments. The main base is supplemented by 6 satellite facilities: Marine Corps Air Station New River, Camp Geiger, Stone Bay, Courthouse Bay, Camp Johnson, and the Greater Sandy Run Training Area.
