Not to be outdone by the US Air Force’s recent environmental contracts announcement, the US Army is paying out up $945 million in environmental remediation contracts to a number of the same firms.
The US Army Corps of Engineers awarded [pdf] shared-capacity indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts for worldwide environmental remediation services to 4 contractors.

Odebrecht-Baker in Coral Gables, FL won a $278.8 million construction contract for levee improvements to the Chalmette Loop from Verret to Caernarvon in St. Bernard Parish, LA.
The Chalmette Loop contract is 1 of hundreds of contract being awarded by the US Army Corps of Engineers under the Hurricane Protection System (HPS). For a list of HPS contracts, including future contracts being awarded in the coming fiscal years, click here [PDF].
Under this contract, Odebrecht-Baker will build a floodwall along the Chalmette Loop.
CH2M Hill Contractors in Chantilly, VA won a $25.7 million firm-fixed-price contract to build a communications facility at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.
The contractor expects to complete the work by Nov 30/11. 59 bids were solicited with 15 bids received by the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Transatlantic Programs Center (TAC) in Winchester, VA (W912ER-09-C-0046).
