General Dynamics Gets $246M in Stryker Repair, Upgrade Contracts

General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights, MI received $246 million in contracts to support Stryker vehicles deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The 8×8 wheeled Stryker armored vehicle is the backbone of the US Army’s 7 medium armored brigades, with an 8th on the way.

Of the Army’s 7 medium armored Stryker brigades, 3 are deployed in combat zones: 2 in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan.

The 1st Stryker brigade in Afghanistan was deployed in June 2009. Since then, the 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, has been patrolling the Kandahar and Zabul provinces.

In the difficult terrain of Afghanistan and Iraq, Stryker vehicles require maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to keep them functioning effectively…

Lex Products to Supply USMC Mobile Power Distribution System

Lex Products Corp. in Stamford, CT received an $8 million task order under a blanket purchase agreement (M67854-07-A-5016) to provide the mobile electric power distribution system – replacement [pdf] (MEPDIS-R) to the US Marine Corps.

The system distributes electrical power from all standard tactical generators to military shelters and systems requiring power.

MEPDIS-R is a modular power distribution system consisting of portable power distribution boxes and interconnecting power cables. The system includes a series of cable adapters permitting the use of older power generation systems…

KCI to Renovate Barracks, Other Facilities at Fort Leonard Wood, MO

KCI Construction Co. in St. Louis, MO won a $20.7 million firm-fixed-price design-build contract to renovate 3 existing 3-story barracks, a dining hall and a battalion headquarters building at the US Army’s Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.

Fort Leonard Wood is the home of the US Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, the US Army Engineering School, Military Police School, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) School, the Third Basic Combat Training Brigade, and Joint Training Detachments from the US Marine Corps, US Navy and US Air Force.

Under the contract, KCI will provide all analyses, design, procurement, installation, plant, labor, equipment, materials, and transportation and perform all required work…
