California-based Aerospike has joined BAE Systems’ Mission Advantage technology partnership to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities for the US Army and other defense programs. Together with BAE, Aerospike will advance data mesh solutions using its real-time database to support the Army’s Unified Network, Army Data Platform, and other data-centric mission requirements.
The Argentine government is moving closer to buying new submarines, eying the acquisition of three Scorpene boats from France’s Naval Group that could cost $2 billion, according to military sources in Buenos Aires. The latest development in the procurement saga is that a Letter of Intention (LoI) was expected to be signed by middle of October, but negotiations over the financial details are taking more time, these sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive deliberations.

Israel’s defense ministry said on Monday it had earmarked $530 million to accelerate the development of the laser air defense system known as “Iron Beam.” “The Ministry of Defence has signed a major deal worth approximately 2 billion shekels to significantly expand procurement of the laser interception systems, ‘Iron Beam,’” a statement said. The system is aimed at improving the interception of drones and other projectiles, which Hezbollah in Lebanon has fired at Israel since the start of the war in Gaza in support of its Palestinian ally Hamas. Iron Beam would supplement other aerial defense capacities such as the more well-known Iron Dome.

The UK and Germany will arm Ukraine’s Sea King helicopters with modern missiles for greater offensive capability. The joint communique of the bilateral Trinity House Agreement on Defence mentioned the announcement. “In addition, we are committed to working together for as long as it takes to support and enable Ukraine to counter Russian aggression,” the joint communique read.

A new chapter in Indian aerospace opened on October 28 with the inauguration of a final assembly line for the Airbus C295 military transport. The event was a major publicity coup for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Spanish premier Pedro Sanchez sharing the limelight. Significantly, the Vadodara factory is the first in India to be run by a private company, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL).
