Americas Bay Marine won a $10 million deal for a 95-calendar day shipyard availability for the mid term availability of Military Sealift Command’s fleet replenishment oiler USNS Joshua Humphreys (T-AO 188). This contract includes a base period and three unexercised options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $10,746,650. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Virginia, beginning September 1, 2023, and is expected to be completed by December 5, 2023. Taking place during a larger-scale exercise at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, CAMRE and the Marine Innovation Unit (MIU) provided invaluable support to forces participating in the integrated training exercise (ITX). According to Israel Defense, the national cyber arrays of Israel (Israel National Cyber Directorate) and the United Arab Emirates, along with dozens of other countries’ cyber systems, are spearheading the establishment of a global platform for information sharing in the fight against hackers and ransomware wars. The system is currently being established through Microsoft Israel as part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative, a global initiative led by the White House aimed at addressing ransomware attacks worldwide.

The German government has declined to open a Leopard tank maintenance center in Poland for tanks transferred to Ukraine. According to German Media, sources familiar with the matter revealed that the reason for this decision was the inflated price expectations from the Polish side. According to the media, instead of Poland, the Leopard tanks for Ukraine will be repaired in Germany and Lithuania.

The UK has awarded BAE Systems a $361.7 million contract to replenish the British Army’s frontline munitions. Under the agreement, the company will deliver “vital defense stocks” for the service, including 5.56-millimeter ammunition, 30-millimeter medium caliber rounds, and 155-millimeter artillery shells.

Asia-Pacific

Australia has announced its decision to deploy an E-7A Wedgetail surveillance aircraft to Germany, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s illegal invasion. The move comes as part of Australia’s ongoing efforts to ensure the flow of international military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and to protect vital supply routes.
