The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a report that reviewed operation and maintenance (O&M) funding and readiness for fighter aircraft. The report found that while O&M funding execution from fiscal years 2018 to 2023 was generally consistent with requests, tactical aircraft mission capable rates have generally not met service goals. The report attributes this to several factors, including ageing aircraft, maintenance challenges, and issues with supply support. The report highlights the F-35 programme as an example where significant investment has not translated to mission readiness. Despite increased O&M funding for the F-35A between fiscal years 2018 and 2023, the aircraft did not meet its mission capable goals in any of the years reviewed. The Navy and Marine Corps also saw increased O&M funding execution for the F-35B/C variant between fiscal years 2018 and 2023, but similarly, the aircraft did not meet its mission capable goals.

Israel Aerospace Industries has unveiled a lightweight short-range guided missile that uses external optical guidance. The Teaser missile utilizes an external sight called Automatic Command-to-Line-Of-Sight to guide it to the target. “The Teaser Sight uses internal day and night vision channels and can also use external video sources thus enabling the system to be configured to the user’s specific needs requiring any changes or adaptations to the missile,” an IAI brochure explained.

The FMV is the agency responsible for procuring equipment for the Swedish Armed Forces. The Grob 120TP is a modern, high-performance training aircraft known for its agility and reliability, making it well-suited for preparing pilots for the demands of modern air combat. Deliveries of the initial batch of Grob 120TP aircraft began in 2023 and are scheduled to be completed in 2024.

Australia has accepted the 21st Guardian-class patrol boat from Austal as part of an ongoing program to bolster security across Australian allies in the South Pacific. The “Te Mataili III” was handed over in a ceremony held at the Royal Australian Navy’s HMAS Stirling base on Garden Island and then received by Tuvaluan Prime Minister Feleti Teo. It will replace Tuvalu’s present Guardian vessel of the same name, which sailed from 2019 until being damaged beyond repair due to twin cyclones hitting the country in 2023.
