Americas Sikorsky won a $53.9 million contract modification for production of UH-60M Black Hawks. UH-60 Black Hawk is a multi-mission helicopter. The UH-60M is the latest variant in the Black Hawk family of helicopters. More than 2,000 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter variants are in service with the US, and more than 600 have been exported. Work will take place in Connecticut. Estimated completion date is June 30, 2022. The naval branch will lead the design of the CHGB while the land counterpart handles the production. A new agreement between Nigeria and Russia allows for Moscow to supply military equipment and training to the African country as it struggles with Islamist militant extremists and other security challenges. Reuters reported in July that US lawmakers had put a hold on a proposal to sell almost $1 billion worth of weapons to Nigeria over concerns about possible human rights abuses by the government. The news agency said last week that, according to several sources last month, “the proposed sale of 12 attack helicopters and related equipment was being delayed in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.”

Europe

Ruselectronics Holding, a Rostec company, unveiled remote mine-clearing machine Foliage at the Army-2021 forum. Developed by the Kaskad KPZ, the machine can search for and eliminate explosive devices at a distance of up to 100 m using a system based on electromagnetic and induction means, Rostec said.

Asia-Pacific

Dmitry Shugayev, director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, disclosed on August 25 that Russia would deliver four Su-30SM fighters to Kazakhstan by the end of 2022. So far, 20 fighters have been delivered, Shugayev added.

The Indian Ministry of Defense awarded Mahindra Defence Systems Limited (MDS) $183 million for the manufacturing of Integrated Anti-Submarine Warfare Defense Suite (IADS) for modern warships of Indian Navy. Competitive bids from Indian companies were invited by MoD through open tender wherein the systems fielded were put through detailed trials at sea to prove their capability.
