Oasis Systems won a $19 million deal for Sea Hunter and Seahawk operations and sustainment. This award includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this delivery order to $37,435,818. Work will be performed in San Diego, California; Ventura, California; Rockville, Maryland; Burlington, Massachusetts; and various locations across the US. Work is expected to be completed by August 2024. If all options are exercised, work will continue through August 2026. Fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $635,875 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
Mnemonics won a $13 million deal for the production and delivery of a maximum of 600 Radio Frequency Blanking units (RFBU) for production and 100 RFBU for retrofitting existing RFBUs with new precision timing cards in support of the Growler capability modifications, and Block III upgrades for the EA-18G Growler and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft for the Navy. Work will be performed in Melbourne, Florida, and is expected to be completed in March 2030. No funds will be obligated at the time of award; funds will be obligated on individual orders as they are issued.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the finalization of a new $1 billion deal to boost the country’s defense industry. The deal, which was signed with the Managing Arm of the Military-Industrial Complex of the Indian government, will see the Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria become 40% self-sufficient in local manufacturing and production of defense equipment by 2027.
Europe
Latvia has inked a memorandum of understanding with NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to test several military systems within a “tactical 5G bubble.”Scheduled in October, the so-called operational technology exploration aims to evaluate 5G’s ability to provide ultra-reliable and low-latency connections for improved situational awareness on the battlefield. It will also be used to see if the network can enhance the lethality of troops in future conflicts.
The British military is asking ArmaLite rifle to boost the lethality of some of its specialist forces, according to a deal announced September 7. An initial $19 million order for 1,620 KS-1 weapons has been placed by the British, with options to procure up to 10,000 systems at a total cost of £90 million over the next decade.

According to Jane’s, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the Indonesian Navy have reached an impasse over the ‘Red White’ frigate programme’s combat systems. At the centre of the impasse is the defence ministry’s insistence that the frigates be equipped with a Turkish combat management system (CMS) instead of a Thales-supplied one as originally planned.
