Americas Raytheon Technologies won a $220.9 million deal, which provides material and support equipment, program administrative, labor, supplies, services, planning, and unit level support equipment for F135 propulsion depot maintenance, non-recurring sustainment activities, and depot activations in support of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Military Sealift Command, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers, and non-US Department for Defense (DOD) participants. Work will be performed in East Hartford, Connecticut; Windsor Locks, Connecticut; Cherry Point, North Carolina; Indianapolis, Indiana; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jacksonville, Florida; Volkel Air Base, Netherlands; Marham Air Base, Norfolk, United Kingdom; Yuma, Arizona; USS Kearsarge; various locations within the continental US (CONUS); and various location outside the CONUS, and is expected to be completed in September 2026. VACCO Industries won a $21.1 million deal for the manufacture of a total of 56 various vent, air line manifold, and manifold assembly valves in support of the Virginia-class submarine atmosphere control system. Middle East and Africa

The French army is holding talks with Niger’s military over withdrawing “elements” of its presence there following a coup, a defense ministry source said. There has been speculation that France will be forced into a full military pullout from Niger after the July 26 putsch, which ousted French ally President Mohamed Bazoum. Some 1,500 troops are deployed in Niger as part of  France’s wider with against jihadists in the Sahel.

Europe

Elbit Systems Ltd. has delivered a self-protection suite to the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s (RNLAF) Gulfstream G-650ER VIP Aircraft. The delivery was carried out within a year of signing and after comprehensive flight acceptance tests. The flight acceptance tests included the examination of the system over a number of flights, all of which were successful. The aircraft was equipped with an advanced protective suite that includes Elbit Systems’ Direct Infra-Red Counter Measures (DIRCM) and Infra-Red-based Passive Airborne Warning System (IR MWS), a configuration with an EASA supplemental type certificate (STC).

UVision Air Ltd., a developer of loitering munition systems of all sizes for a variety of missions, announced the signing of a contract to supply its Hero-120 Loitering Munition System to an undisclosed European country, the outcome of a productive collaboration with Rheinmetall, initiated in 2021. The deal follows a series of successful flight missions demonstrating the Hero-120’s exceptional capabilities in extreme Arctic winter conditions.

Asia-Pacific

The Philippines and Australia shored up their security and economic alliance Friday with the signing of a strategic partnership, as they seek to counter China’s growing influence in the region. The agreement was finalized following a meeting between Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Manila. Albanese’s visit, which marks the first bilateral talks with an Australian prime minister in Manila in 20 years, follows a series of trips by senior members of his government to the archipelago nation since Marcos took office in 2022.
