The US Department of Defense has awarded Raytheon a contract to develop and manufacture the Standard Missile-2 (SM-2) Block IIICU surface-to-air missile. The $258.7-million contract for the missile’s engineering, manufacture, and development is scheduled for completion in September 2031. It includes $18.4 million in Foreign Military Sales funding from Canada. Block IIICU is an upgrade over the legacy Block III/IIIA/IIIB, offering enhanced targeting capabilities to engage additional threats such as anti-ship cruise missiles and tactical aircraft.
Lockheed Martin Corp., Orlando, Florida, was awarded a $720 million modification to contract W31P4Q-23-C-0005 for Production Year Four of HELLFIRE/JAGM missiles. The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $1,493,541,465. Work will be performed in Ocala, Florida, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 30, 2028. Fiscal 2025 missile procurement, Army funds in the amount of $720,120,883 were obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Nigeria of munitions, including precision bombs and rockets, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 13 August 2025. The proposed sale, which is worth an estimated USD 346 million (EUR 297 million), has been forwarded to the US Congress for final approval. Nigeria has requested to buy 1,002 MK-82 general purpose 500 lb (227 kg) bombs; 1,002 MXU-650 air foil groups (AFGs) for 500 lb Paveway II GBU-12 bombs; 515 MXU-1006 AFGs for 250 lb (113 kg) Paveway II GBU-58 bombs; 1,517 MAU-169 or MAU-209 computer control groups (CCGs) for Paveway II GBU-12/GBU-58 bombs; 1,002 FMU-152 joint programmable fuzes; and 5,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II (APKWS II) all-up-rounds (AURs) (each consisting of a WGU-59/B guidance section, high-explosive warhead and MK66-4 rocket motor).

Estonian company Milrem Robotics has successfully integrated a Ukrainian-made remote weapon station with its THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle. The BURIA remote weapon station is armed with a 40mm automatic grenade launcher, capable of striking targets at up to 1,100 meters (3,609 feet). Pairing an unmanned vehicle with a remote weapon station enables precise targeting while keeping operators out of harm’s way.
Asia-Pacific
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has urged the nation’s top arms development organization to fast-track longer-range missile development amid Pakistan’s increasingly sophisticated arsenal. Operation Sindoor was spearheaded by the service against Pakistan in June, with IAF jets striking targets over 200 kilometers (124 miles) inside Pakistani territory. The four-day campaign saw the deployment of various weapons, including the indigenous BrahMos, French SCALP, and Israeli Rampage and Crystal Maze air-to-ground missiles.
