$10.9M for AVCATT Longbow Improvement

AVCATT
L3 Communications Link Simulation and Training in Arlington, TX received a $10.9 million modification to a previously awarded fixed-price-incentive-fee contract (N61339-00-C-0002) to conduct an engineering change proposal for the Longbow Lot 8 Core Upgrade for all suites of the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) for the U.S. Army.
As noted in an earlier DID article concerning a $5.6 million AVCATT display upgrade, AVCATT is a group of fully interactive, networked, reconfigurable aviation manned simulators. The system will permit Army aviation units to conduct collective task training on a real-time, computerized battlefield. Work will be performed in Arlington, TX and is expected to be complete in February 2007. The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, in Orlando, FL issued the contract.
Note that L3 CLST’s parent company is under criminal investigation for its role in providing defective parts to the U.S. Army’s CSEL emergency radio program, and possibly other programs as well.
