CVN 76 into Pearl(click to view full) Northrop Grumman subsidiary Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA received a $15.3 million modification to previously awarded contract # N00024-02-C-4004 for the USS Ronald Reagan’s [CVN-76] FY 2007 Planned Incremental Availability (PIA). During an American Nimitz Class carrier’s 50 year life span, it has 1 refueling & complex overhaul (RCOH), 4 Drydocking Planned Incremental Availabilities, and 12 Planned Incremental Availabilities. A PIA provides for renovation and modernization via alterations and repairs, as well as inspection and testing to all ships systems and components. Work will be performed in San Diego, CA, and is expected to be complete by Oct. 2007. All contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, CA issued the contract.
