Raytheon Showcased LIDS | US Planes Spotted in Crete | Pakistan Launched Ghauri Missile

Americas

Raytheon, an RTX business, has showcased its cutting-edge Low, slow, small-unmanned aircraft Integrated Defense System (LIDS) during the US Army’s annual summer test period. The event attracted the attention of international allied ground forces, underlining the significance of LIDS as a counter-drone solution. LIDS leverages Raytheon’s Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor (KuRFS) and the Coyote family of effectors to provide a robust detect-and-defeat system for countering unmanned aerial threats.

In a strategic move to bolster US presence and deter further aggression in the US Central Command region, the New Jersey Air National Guard’s 119th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron has arrived with an additional squadron of F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. This deployment comes as part of a broader effort by the Department of Defense to enhance the capability of US forces to defend themselves in the face of escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Middle East and Africa

Israel said Thursday that a column of tanks and infantry had launched an overnight raid into Hamas-controlled Gaza, striking “numerous” targets before retreating to home soil. The military announced the incursion into the north of the Palestinian territory hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared preparations for a ground war were underway. The Israel Defense Forces described the operation as a “targeted raid” that hit “numerous terrorist cells, infrastructure and anti-tank missile launch posts.”

Europe

The US is sending dozens of aircraft to Greece as part of its response to the war between Israel and Hamas, it emerged on Tuesday. In an exclusive report, the news website CNN Greece says dozens of military aircraft, transports and flying tankers have been deployed to the Souda Bay Naval Air Base on Crete. C-130, C-17 and KC-135 have been spotted at Shania airport in Crete.

Asia-Pacific

According to Defense Post, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has contracted L3Harris Technologies to provide surveillance and targeting systems for South Korea’s upcoming Marine Attack Helicopter. The Wescam MX-15D electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) targeting and designating system will enhance the aircraft’s situational awareness.

Pakistan has successfully conducted a training launch of a Ghauri medium-range ballistic missile. The military’s media branch, Inter Services Public Relations Pakistan, said Tuesday’s test was intended to determine the “operational and technical readiness of Army Strategic Forces Command.” ASFC operates Pakistan’s land-based, nonconventional ballistic and cruise missiles, most of which can be armed with nuclear warheads.
