AAR Government Services won an $87.4 million modification, which exercises an option to provide P-8A Poseidon aircraft depot scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, depot in-service repair/planner and estimator requirements, technical directive incorporation, airframe modifications, aircraft on ground support, and removal and replacement of engines in support of the Navy, the government of Australia, and Foreign Military Sales customers. Work will be performed in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is expected to be completed in October 2024.
Raytheon won an. $11.7 million modification to exercise an option for design agent and engineering support for the Rolling Airframe Missile. Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by September 2025. Fiscal 2024 research, development, test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $1,658,160 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, DC, is the contracting activity.
Middle East and Africa
Israel’s military killed four Hezbollah gunmen who attempted to infiltrate into the north of the country via Lebanon Tuesday morning, the army and the terror group said. Meanwhile, anti-tank missiles were fired at two border towns and several army posts, in the latest in a series of deadly incidents on the quickly heating border. The IDF published footage showing a drone strike against the cell, apparently killing all four people. In later statements, Hezbollah said five of its operatives had been killed “performing jihad,” without elaborating where they were killed.
The US Department of Defense is preparing approximately 2,000 troops to support Israel’s defense against Hamas militants. The step is a response to the terrorist attacks by Hamas on October 7. Around 1,400 people have been killed and 3,400 wounded in Israel since the incident, 199 Israelis have been abducted by Hamas. Roughly 2,670 people have been killed and 9,600 wounded in Gaza.

The Pentagon has cobbled together air defense systems for Ukraine from an array of parts donated by allies and partners. The FrankenSAM program systems employ non-traditional effectors such as air-to-air missiles, removing the reliance on traditional munitions. One of the launchers fabricated using parts such as radars can launch AIM-9M Sidewinder missiles, Associated Press revealed, citing a US defense official.

Australian arms company NIOA has started producing 40,000 rounds of Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) training ammunition at its factory in Benalla, Victoria. The move comes after Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy announced an investment of $139 million to boost local munitions production.
