Rolls Royce Marine North America won a $9 million cost-plus-fixed-fee order for the procurement of all material to manufacture, inspect, paint, and deliver one complete shipset of lightweight stator blades for Virginia-class attack submarines. Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and is expected to be completed by July 31, 2028. Fiscal 2024 shipbuilding and conversion (Navy) funds in the amount of $9,877,737 will be obligated at the time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured under the authority of 10 US Code 3204(a)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1 via SAM.gov with one offer received. Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, West Bethesda, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

Israel has approved a $1.5 billion initiative to accelerate the production of main battle tanks and armored support vehicles as part of a five-year pathway to enhance its ground capabilities amid the ongoing war in Gaza. The Armored Vehicle Acceleration Project, announced by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Defense Ministry Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, aligns with Tel Aviv’s broader objective of modernizing its military capabilities through increased production and improved infrastructure.

Europe may be weighing spending billions on US arms purchases to ensure America offers security guarantees to Ukraine, yet it has little choice but to pay up, even as it tries to invest in its own defense industries, analysts have told Defense News. This week, government and military officials on both sides of the Atlantic have discussed how western powers can guarantee Kyiv’s safety from future Russian aggression after a peace deal is reached to end hostilities in Ukraine.

India is working with a French company to develop and manufacture fighter jet engines in the country, New Delhi’s defense minister said. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in May approved the prototype of a 5th generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), calling it a “significant push towards enhancing India’s indigenous defence capabilities.” Singh, in a speech at a conference in New Delhi on Friday, gave more details about developing fighter jet aircraft engines in the country.
