Boeing won a $43.8 million delivery order for the procurement of 72 each, Processor, Target Lo, part of the Distributed Targeting Processor-Network System on the F/A-18 E/F and E/A-18G aircraft. The US Navy F/A-18 E and F Super Hornet maritime strike attack aircraft was manufactured by Boeing and flew for the first time on 29 November 1995. The E/A-18G Growler is an iteration of the Super Hornet. Equipped with countermeasures and high tech radars, the Growler gives crews critical electronic intelligence and reconnaissance. Work under the new contract will take place in Missouri. Estimated completion will be by December 2025.
The first American F-16 to shoot down an enemy MiG aircraft was recently painted with a Desert Camouflage paint scheme. Former PACAF commander Gen. Gary L. North achieved the kill while flying F-16D #0778 over Iraq. A MiG-25 had entered the no-fly zone and North fired an AIM-120 missile at it. It was also the combat debut of the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile.
Middle East & Africa
Northrop Grumman won a $13.3 million contract modification for contractor logistics support of Iraq’s C-172 & C-208 fleets at Martyr Brigadier General Ali Flaih Air Base, Iraq. This modification involves Foreign Military Sales to Iraq. Work will be performed at Martyr Brigadier General Ali Flaih Air Base, Iraq, and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2023.
Europe
Russia has started the construction of a Rezonans-NE VHF radar on a hilltop northeast of Korzunova airbase. Work on the site started in July 2021 according to satellite photos. The radar, once completed, will have enough range to watch over Rovaniemi and Evenes. These two locations are current and future bases for the F-35.
Poland’s Ministry of Defense inked a contract for three additional Kormoran II (Project 258)-class mine-countermeasures vessels (MCMVs) on June 26, the Polish Armaments Agency has announced. Under the terms of the contract, valued at around $563 million, the new ships are expected to be delivered in 2026–27, and will be based with the Polish Navy’s 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla.

The Philippine Army has established a new battalion to operate its newly acquired Autonomous Truck Mounted howitzer System (ATMOS) 155 mm/52 calibre self-propelled gun system, produced by Israeli firm Elbit Systems. The service received 12 howitzer units from Elbit Systems in December last year. The new unit was formed during the AAR’s 15th founding anniversary held in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, said Philippine Army (PA) spokesperson colonel Xerxes Trinidad in a statement.
