Americas Northrop Grumman won a $83.1 million order, which provides for retrofit of two MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft systems (B9 and B10) and one main operating base (MB-6P) to an Integrated Functional Capability Four, multiple-intelligence configuration for the Navy and the government of Australia. Work will be performed in Palmdale, California; San Diego, California; Chantilly, Virginia; Hauppauge, New York; Waco, Texas; Linthicum, Maryland; and various locations within the continental US, and is expected to be completed in June 2026. Goodrich won a $20.7 million modification to exercise options for manufacturing activities in support of Virginia class submarine propulsors. Work will be performed in Jacksonville, Florida, and is expected to be completed by November 2026. Fiscal 2023 shipbuilding and conversion, Navy appropriation funding in the amount of $13,831,018; and fiscal 2023 other procurement, Navy appropriation funding in the amount of $6,915,509 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Israel-US Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation has approved joint projects to enhance the cyber security of partner nations. Under the initiative, four industry groups will be funded to lead various tasks on bolstering cyber resilience for the US and Israeli governments. “We are proud to announce the first grants for this important program. The selected projects are a result of a comprehensive selection process to answer the cybersecurity needs of both countries,” BIRD Foundation Executive Director Jaron Lotan said.

Europe

Norway will become the third country to donate F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv to bolster its Soviet-era air force, three Norwegian media reported Thursday, without citing any sources. Neither the number of planes nor the delivery date were announced, as Ukraine pursues a grinding counteroffensive against Russian forces in the east.

Asia-Pacific

Indonesia has committed to buying Boeing-made F-15 Eagle fighter jets and Sikorsky-made Black hawk helicopters. Air Vice Marshal Yusuf Jauhari, who leads the Defense Facilities Agency within Indonesia’s Defense Ministry, and Mark Sears, who serves as Boeing’s vice president and program manager for fighters, signed a memorandum of understanding on August 21 confirming plans to purchase 24 F-15s. The event took place at Boeing’s St. Louis, Missouri, facility during a visit by Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

The Indian defense ministry has announced the first-ever test-firing of its indigenous ASTRA beyond-visual-range (BVR) missile from the Tejas light combat aircraft. The event, which took place in western India, was monitored by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification.
