Americas Raytheon won a $10 million spares delivery order for the procurement of one APY-10 radar system weapon repairable assemblies (WRAs), for a total quantity on 11 WRAs, in support of the P-8A aircraft. The delivery order does not include an option period. All work will be performed in McKinney, Texas, and work is expected to be completed by April 2026. Raytheon Technolgies won a $256.3 million modification, which exercises an option to provide depot level maintenance and repair for all fielded F135 propulsion systems at the F-35 production sites and operational locations, to include training in support of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers, and non-US Department of Defense (DOD) participants. Work will be performed in East Hartford, Connecticut; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Indianapolis, Indiana; West Palm Beach, Florida; Windsor Locks, Connecticut; Brekstad, Norway; Leeuwarden, Netherlands; Iwakuni, Japan; Williamtown, Australia; Cameri, Italy; Marham, United Kingdom; and Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be completed in November 2023. A Turkish firm will provide drones to Saudi Arabia, Riyadh said Tuesday following a visit by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that aims to attract foreign investment. Several contracts, including the drone deal with the privately-owned Baykar, were signed during a meeting between Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Red Sea port of Jeddah on Monday, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

Europe

BAE Systems has finished the first stratospheric trial of the High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite Uncrewed Aerial System (PHASA-35) at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The test is part of a 2018 project with BAE segment Prismatic to develop a “persistent and stable” pseudo-satellite drone that can operate above the weather and conventional air traffic.

The Taiwanese government has confirmed plans to procure National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) from the US amid increasing tensions with China. Speaking on the sidelines of a recent legislative session, the island’s defense minister said media reports about the potential acquisition were correct but that the Taiwanese military has yet to receive an official notification from Washington about whether it would allow the purchase.

Japanese forces are set to deploy their state-of-the-art Type 12 Surface-to-Ship missile (SSM) in Australian waters for the first time, as part of the upcoming Exercise Talisman Sabre 2023. The live fire demonstration, scheduled to take place at the Jervis Bay weapons range, marks a significant milestone in the growing military relationship between Japan and Australia. This event also highlights the expanded cooperation between the two nations and the United States, with the aim of maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
