Siemens Receives $50.5M for Expansion of Pumping Stations Near Basrah, Iraq
Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution in Wendell, NC received a $50.5 million firm-fixed-price contract for electrical equipment necessary for the expansion/ rehabilitation of several Basrah Cluster Pump Stations. Basrah sits on the Tigris river in Iraq’s southern, Shia-domainated provinces, and is a focal point for the British zone of operations.
Work on this contract will be performed in Iraq, and is expected to be complete by Nov. 30, 2006. There were an unknown number of bids solicited via the World Wide Web on June 8, 2005, and ten bids were received. The Joint Contracting Command in Baghdad, Iraq, issued the contract (W91GXY-06-C-0002).
