Triumph Gear Systems won an $11.6 million contract for the repair of 42 pylon conversion actuators in support of V-22 aircraft. All work will be performed in Park City, Utah, and will be completed by January 2027. One source was solicited for this non-competitive, sole-source requirement in accordance with 10 U.S. Code 2304(c)(1) with one offer received. Naval Supply Systems Command, Weapon Systems Support, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the contracting activity.

On December 12, 2024, under the Florida sky at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, the US Army held its breath. A massive Transporter Erector Launcher, hitched to an M983 tactical truck, elevated a canister to a near-vertical position. Inside was the Army’s Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), a system that had, until recently, been a source of immense frustration and public setbacks. This was the moment of the Canaveral Gambit — a high-stakes test to prove that America’s premier ground-launched hypersonic program had finally overcome the crippling issues that had kept it flightless.

Israel plans to acquire two Boeing KC-46 aerial refueling tankers in a deal worth about $500 million. The purchase will be financed through US military aid, pending approval from an Israeli ministerial committee for defense procurement. Israel already operates four KC-46s, delivered under earlier contracts. Defense Ministry Director General Amir Baram said the tankers will bolster the Israeli Air Force’s ability to conduct long-range operations. The ministry noted that the new aircraft will be integrated with Israeli systems, though it did not specify which.

Canada plans to purchase new submarines. A German company can hope for a lucrative major order. The Kiel shipyard location fought against competition from the Far East. Thyssenkrupp’s naval division has an arms deal with Canada. The German defense company is one of two companies on the shortlist for the planned purchase of several submarines, said Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney after a meeting with Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin. Canada is facing a turning point in security policy. The government in Ottawa will equip its navy with a new generation of submarines. The current Victoria class fleet dates back to the 1990s and will be phased out by the mid-2030s at the latest. To ensure that the country is not left without operational boats, the “Canadian Patrol Submarine Project” (CPSP) has been running for some time. The goal: up to twelve ultra-modern submarines that can also be used reliably in the Arctic.
