The Science Applications International Corp. won a $19 million deal for B-52H software engineering services. This contract provides engineering expertise for the software on the B-52 aircraft.  Work will be performed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is expected to be completed by July 10, 2028. This award is the result of a sole source acquisition. Fiscal 2023 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $3,653,918 are being obligated at the time of award. The US Air Force and Raytheon have completed the developmental and operational tests of the latest Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) variant at the Eglin Test and Training Range in Florida. The phase concluded with a live-fire demonstration of an AIM-120D-3 from an F-16 fighter jet, proving the weapon’s air-to-air capabilities according to US Air Force and Navy requirements.

Middle East & Africa

An Iranian military official has claimed that the country’s attack helicopters are now fitted with modern technologies to address future threats. General Yousef Qorbani, the commander of the Airborne Division of the Army, said during a news conference last week that its choppers have been equipped with long-range, fire-and-forget missiles.

Europe

France will provide Ukraine with SCALP long-range cruise missiles to help Kyiv’s forces strike targets deep behind Russian lines, President Emmanuel Macron said Tuesday. Arriving at a NATO summit focused on Kyiv’s battle against Moscow’s invasion, Macron said Paris would send the SCALP missile, already supplied by London under the name “Storm Shadow”.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday his country will “more than double” its military presence in Latvia, a Baltic state neighboring Russia, as leaders gear up for a crucial NATO summit. Canada is currently leading the NATO Forward Presence Battle Group  in Latvia, which is now to be expanded to a brigade level.

Asia-Pacific

Elbit Systems has signed a $114 million deal to provide two long-range patrol aircraft with an advanced mission suite for a country in the Asia-Pacific region. The systems will be based on ATR Aircraft’s 72-600 regional turboprop airliner model. Each aircraft will incorporate Elbit’s proprietary mission management system, electro-optics, radar and communications, signals intelligence, and additional mission equipment.
