5 Firms Get Up to $250M in NAVFAC Construction Contracts

Sauer in Jacksonville, FL (N69450-09-D-1277); The Haskell Co. in Jacksonville, FL (N69450-09-D-1278); Caddell Construction Company in Montgomery, AL (N69450-09-D-1279); Roy Anderson Corp. in Gulfport, MS (N69450-09-D-1280); and PCL Construction Services in Orlando, FL (N69450-09-D-1281) each won a design-build indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity multiple award contract for general construction projects at DoD facilities within the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast area of responsibility of northern Florida and southern Georgia. The maximum value for all 5 contracts combined is $250 million.

The 5 firms will undertake new construction, renovation, alteration, and repair of the following types of facilities:

  • aviation and aircraft,
  • marine,
  • barracks and personnel housing,
  • administration,
  • warehouses and supply,
  • training,
  • personnel support and service,
  • security, and
  • abatement and handling of hazardous/regulated materials

Projects may also require interior design and incorporation of sustainable features.

Sauer received a task order under its contract of $7 million for the design and construction of a child development center at Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. The company expects to complete construction by November 2010.

The companies will perform work on this contract in the following locations: Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL (30%); Naval Station Mayport, FL (30%); Naval Support Activity Orlando, FL (5%); Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA (15%); and surrounding supported commands in Northern Florida and Southern Georgia (15%). Work may be required in other regions in the area of responsibility of NAVFAC Southeast (5%), if deemed necessary. The terms of the contracts are not to exceed 60 months, with an expected June 2014 completion date for all of the work. These contracts were competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with 29 proposals received. The 5 contractors may compete for task orders under the terms and conditions of the awarded contracts. The NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, FL manages the contracts.
