$13.4 Million for 3 Years of Spare Hummer Wheels

AM General LLC in Mishawaka, IN received a $13.4 million firm-fixed-price contract for wheel assembly kits used for wheel replacements on the High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). Aside from the normal wear and tear one expects, it’s worth noting that one of the downsides of the up-armored HMMWV jeeps is the extra wear all that weight puts on the tires and other systems. Bids were solicited April 7, 2005 on the Worldwide Web and two bids were received. The work will be performed at AM General’s facility in Toledo, OH, and will be complete by Aug. 1, 2008. The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command in Warren, MI issued the contract (W56HZV-05-D-0264).
