Small business qualifier Debcon, Inc. in Ashland, KY received a $64.7 million firm-fixed-price contract for the design and construction of 212 new office and enlisted housing units at the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, MS. Work is expected to be complete by March 2010. This contract was competitively procured as a Two-Phase Design Build via the Naval Facilities Engineering Command e-solicitation website, with 2 offers received in Phase I. Both of the contractors were determined to be in the competitive range, proceeded to Phase II, and subsequently submitted proposals in Phase II. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast in North Charleston, SC issued the contract (N69450-07-C-0755). New homes shall complement and be compatible with existing housing. Site amenities will consist of a common open area with basketball court, walking/bike trail, and the expansion of an existing nature trail to link areas, tot lot/play lot with open common area and courts, picnic areas, benches. Debcon will also relocate and build a new recreation vehicle park.
