$8.5M to Upgrade M109A6’s Digital Fire Control System

M109A6 Paladin, fired(click to view full) Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Carson, CA received an $8.5 million modification to a firm-fixed-price contract for the Paladin Digital Fire Control System (PDFCS) and various PDFCS components. They will be used on the M109A6 Paladin Self Propelled 155mm Howitzer, where the PDFCS is one of the centerpieces of the weapon’s upgrade from the existing M109A5 system. Work will be performed in Carson, CA and is expected to be complete by June 30, 2007. This was a sole source contract initiated on Jan. 30, 2006 by the Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command in Warren, MI (W56HZV-06-C-0236).
