Airborne at Bragg(click to view full) Balfour Beatty Construction in Fairfax, VA won a $37.6 million firm-fixed-price contract for the design and construction of 2 schools in the northern training area at Fort Bragg, NC. The contractor expects to complete the construction by Mar 15/11. Proposals were solicited on the Web with 16 proposals received by the U.S. Army Engineer District in Savannah, GA (W912HN-09-C-0033). Balfour Beatty will build a 550 student middle school to serve 6th through 8th grade students (approximately 99,300 sq. ft.) and a 714 student elementary school to serve pre-kindergarten through 5th grade students (approximately 123,616 sq. ft.). The project includes utilities, parking, playground areas, sports facilities, fencing, and landscaping and site development. Fort Bragg is the home for the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division, Army Special Operations Command and the Army Parachute team… According to, Fort Bragg is located just west of Fayetteville, NC, on an irregularly-shaped parcel of land, covering approximately 160,700 acres (or 251 square miles), that stretches into 4 counties.
