Center Industries Gets $7.7M Extension for 980,000 M16/M4 Magazines

Keep ’em shooting(click to view full) The Associated Press reports that Center Industries Corp. in Wichita, KS received a contract extension that calls for the production of 980,000 more ammunition magazines for the M16 rifle and M4A1 carbine. More than 80 of the 248 people who work at the plant will be involved in fulfilling the contract, which the company has had since 1997. About 75% of Center Industries’ workforce is disabled. The company has a number of quality-related certifications, and holds a 100% quality rating with the US Department of Defense over almost 1.3 million parts shipped. Center Industries expects to have sales in excess of $22 million in 2006, and also does work for the state of Kansas, Spirit AeroSystems and Cessna Aircraft Co., among others.
