Barnard Construction Co. in Bozeman, MT won a $9 million increment as part of a $16.5 million firm-fixed-price contract for Fern Ridge Dam Repair on the Long Tom River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working with the U.S. Congress to execute an aggressive repair strategy with the goal of completing repairs before the start of the 2005/2006 flood control season in November.

The decision to pursue an accelerated repair schedule is being driven by the Corps’ responsibility to protect the integrity of the structure and ensure the safety of the public. Work will be performed in Eugene, OR, and is expected to be complete by Nov. 30, 2005. There were 84 bids solicited on March 1, 2005, and six bids were received. The U.S. Army Engineer District in Portland, Ore issued the contract (W9127N-05-C-0013).
