Americas

Raytheon won a $28 million deal for design agent and engineering support services for the Rolling Airframe Missile upgraded MK 31 Guided Missile Weapon System Improvement Program. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $282,551,290. This contract combines purchases for the Navy (74%); and the governments of Qatar, Japan, and Egypt, under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by September 2025. If all options are exercised, work will continue through June 2028.

AeroControlex won a $12.2 million deal for C-130 aircraft mounting winches. This is a one-year, eight-month contract with no option periods. This was a sole-source acquisition using justification 10 US Code 2304 (c)(1), as stated in Federal Acquisition regulation 6.301-1. The performance completion date is January 31, 2025. Using military service is Air Force. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2023 defense working capital funds.

Middle East

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has signed a deal to acquire HELA Systems Private Limited, an Indian subsidiary of ELTA Systems Ltd. IAI’s investment in Aerospace Services India is a strong demonstration of IAI’s support for the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (Make in India) vision. The current deal also shows IAI’s commitment to its strong partnership with India’s DRDO in developing and supporting advanced systems for India’s Armed Forces.

Europe

According to the Defense Post, the UK Ministry of Defense has contracted Rafael for the next round of tests of the Trophy Active Protection Systems (APS) on the Challenger 3 tank. The $26 million contract will secure Trophy systems, countermeasures, and test equipment for the demonstration phase in 2024, including qualification and integration.

Asia-Pacific

A United States reconnaissance plane flew through the Taiwan Strait on Thursday, the US Navy said, as China continued joint air and naval exercises around the island. The P-8A Poseidon aircraft transited the strait in international airspace to demonstrate “the United States’ commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific,” the US Seventh Fleet said.

Australia will supply 30 additional Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles to Ukraine to assist in its resistance to Russia’s invasion. The latest tranche increases the Australian Bushmaster commitment to 120, raising the country’s overall military aid to $606 million.
