$7M for Geospatial Intelligence Support

Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. in Redlands, CA received the full delivery order amount of $7 million as part of a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for Geospatial Intelligence Support to the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA). Geospatial intelligence is the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess, and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activity on the earth. NGA is a national intelligence and combat support agency whose mission is to provide timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security. As background to this contract, it should be noted that NGA announced a Joint Operations Integration Office (JOIO) as of July 28, 2005…
The JOIO will combine elements from NGA’s Analysis and Production, Source Operations and Management, and Enterprise Operations Directorates. The JOIO, which represents an enhanced level of synergy within NGA, will work at the Intelligence Community and NGA-Directorate levels to integrate new and emerging sensors, systems and capabilities into NGA operations. This office will help ensure the Agency can continue to provide geospatial intelligence through the improved integration of new sensors and the advancement of Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) capabilities. It will also link the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG) research, development, operations and maintenance activities with NGA’s operational requirements and priorities to deliver advanced geospatial intelligence capabilities.
Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, NGA has major facilities in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and St. Louis, MO areas, plus NGA support teams worldwide.
Work on this contract will be performed in Redlands, CA and is expected to be complete by June 8, 2006. Bids were solicited via the World Wide Web on May 6, 2005, and two bids were received. The National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in St. Louis, MO issued the contract (HM1574-04-D-0001).
