$31.5M in Parachute Purchases

The Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City, FL recently issued a pair of contracts for parachutes. One is definitely for the U.S. Marines; the other involves gear for HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) jumps that are generally undertaken only by special operations capable naval units like Navy SEALs, Marine Force Recon, et. al.

The contracts include:

Complete Parachute Solutions in Deland, FL received a $20.6 million firm-fixed-price contract for purchase of Marine Corp parachute systems and training. Work will be performed in Deland, FL, and is expected to be complete in February 2007. The contract was not competitively procured (N61331-05-C-0046).

Para-Flite Inc., Pennsauken, NJ received a $10.5 million firm-fixed-price contract for the parachutist oxygen system, special applications parachutes and associated support equipment. This gear is used for HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) jumps. Work will be performed in Pennsauken, NJ, and is expected to be complete by September 2008. The contract was not competitively procured (N61331-05-C-0047).
