5-Year, $500M Support Contract for US Navy’s F404 Engines

General Electric Co. in Lynn, MA received a maximum $500 million firm fixed price contract for parts and services for the F404 jet engine, on behalf of the U.S. Navy. The F404 engine powers the US Navy’s F/A-18 Hornet fighter, models A-D. This is a sole source, five-year performance based logistics contract whose performance completion date is September 15, 2008. The Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR) in Richmond, VA issued the contract (SP040005D9416).

GE’s F404 is one of the globe’s most popular fighter engines, and the F404 engine family is also used in the US Air Force’s F117 Stealth fighter, Boeing’s X-45B UCAS UAV, Singapore’s A-4SU Super Skyhawk attack aircraft, Saab’s JAS-39 Gripen 4th generation lightweight fighter, KAI & Lockheed’s T/A-50 Golden Eagle supersonic trainer & light attack aircraft, and India’s Tejas LCA lightweight fighter.
