Archer Western/RQ Construction Joint Venture in Chicago, IL won a $151 million firm-fixed-price contract for design and construction of multiple bachelor enlisted quarters at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base in Jacksonville, NC. The contract also contains 1 unexercised option, which if exercised would increase cumulative contract value to $162.9 million.
Camp Lejeune is the home of the Expeditionary Forces in Readiness, including the II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Logistics Group. The base is home to more than 47,000 Marines and sailors from around the world. The base’s 14 miles of beaches make it a major area for amphibious assault training, and its location between two deep-water ports (Wilmington and Morehead City) allows for fast deployments. The main base is supplemented by 6 satellite facilities: Marine Corps Air Station New River, Camp Geiger, Stone Bay, Courthouse Bay, Camp Johnson, and the Greater Sandy Run Training Area.
Archer Western/RQ Construction will perform the work in Jacksonville and expects to complete it by August 2011. This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with 18 proposals received by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, in Norfolk, VA (N40085-09-C-3215).
