Sikorsky Aircraft, a Stratford, CT-based unit of United Technologies, received a $168.7 million firm-fixed-price contract for H-60 supplies and technical, engineering and logistical support services for a period of 12 months.
The contract is in support of overhaul, repair, and recapitalization of H-60 Black Hawk helicopters at Corpus Christi Army Depot.
First deployed in 1978, the Black Hawk is the Army’s front-line utility helicopter used for air assault, air cavalry, and aeromedical evacuation units.
The Black Hawk is designed to carry 11 combat-loaded, air assault troops, and it is capable of moving a 105-millimeter howitzer and 30 rounds of ammunition. Modified Black Hawks operate as command and control, electronic warfare, and special operations platforms.
The Army’s total Black Hawk helicopter fleet exceeds 1,740 aircraft. Of those, 500 operate in the Middle East and Central: 350 Black Hawks in Iraq and Afghanistan and 150 in the rest of the Middle East.

For this contract, Sikorsky will perform the overhaul and repair work in Corpus Christi, TX, with an estimated completion date of Nov 30/10. The US Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, AL manages the contract (W58RGZ-09-D-0029).
