$25M for Traveling Wave Tube Repairs

The US Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane in Crane, IN issued a pair of firm-fixed-price, indefinite-quantity/ indefinite-delivery contracts to repair Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs). TWTs are used in a variety of host aircraft and ships, where they amplify the power of radio signals. This is very useful for radars, and also has applications in electronic warfare equipment.
The winners included:
Communications and Power Industries in Palo Alto, CA received a maximum $13.1 contract. Work will be performed in Palo Alto, CA (N00164-05-D-8918). This contract combines purchases for the USA, and for the Government of Taiwan ($90,240) under the Foreign Military Sales program.
Teledyne Wireless Inc. in Rancho Cordova, CA received a maximum $11.9 million contract. Work will be performed in Rancho Cordova, CA (N00164-05-D-8951).
These contracts were competitively procured, with the solicitation being publicized on the World Wide Web. Two proposals were received, and two contracts awarded. Work is expected to be complete by September 2010.
