Dyncorp International in Fort Worth, TX received an $8.7 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for management and logistic services in support of the US Naval Test Wing Atlantic’s research, development, test, and evaluation aircraft.

NTWL provides aircrew and aircraft assets, maintenance, operational and safety oversight and facility support to conduct research, development, test and evaluation of manned and unmanned fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The wing trains test pilots, test Naval flight officers, and flight test engineers to support the Naval Aviation Enterprise.

NTWL is composed of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two One, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Three and the US Naval Test Pilot School. It also includes the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department.

The US Naval Test Pilot School provides fixed-wing and rotary-wing instruction to pilots, flight officers and engineers in the processes and techniques of aircraft and systems test and evaluation. The school educates and trains military and civilians from all US military services, other US government agencies and foreign nations. The school investigates and develops new flight test techniques, publishes manuals for use by the aviation test community in standardization of flight test techniques and project reporting and conducts special projects.

Dyncorp will perform the work at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD, and expects to complete it in December 2010. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at Patuxent River, MD manages the contract (N00421-10-C-0022).
