Up to $134.8M to Maersk for Rental of 8 Fast Sealift Ships to 2010

Maersk Line Limited of Norfolk, VA received $25.9 million firm-fixed-price contract with reimbursables subject to the availability of fiscal year 2006 funds. The contract is for the operation and maintenance of eight fast sealift ships.

Maersk owns and operates US Flag vessels under exclusive contact with the Military Sealift Command in support of the US Military’s supply requirements. These vessels operate in a prepositioned capacity, providing transport and storage for rolling stock, breakbulk, containers and ammunition for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.

The ships will be primarily maintained at U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast ports in reduced operating status, but must be deployable worldwide when activated.

This contract includes four one-year options, which, if exercised, would bring the total value of the contract to $134.8 million. Work performance is worldwide, and the contract will end by September 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with more than 50 proposals solicited and offers received. The Military Sealift Command in Washington, DC issued the contract (N00033-05-C-5340).
