Raytheon Co. Space and Airborne Systems’ Electronic Warfare Systems in Goleta, CA received a $10 million contract for an advanced concept technology demonstration of Advanced Tactical Targeting Technology (AT3). This Phase one effort calls for the demonstration of rapid and accurate location of RF (radio frequency, incl. radar) emitters associated with enemy air defenses.
Three F-16 Block 30 aircraft will be networked to share precise signal measurements in a timely manner, providing 360-degree coverage to rapidly and accurately locate RF emitters from any angle of arrival without use of external hardware. Raytheon was awarded the ALR-69A(V) program in August 2001, and this demonstration will build upon the success of a U.S. Air Force Research Labs/DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Agency) AT3 advanced technical demonstration completed in 2003 by Raytheon Missile Systems.Flight tests of the new digital radar warning receiver are expected to begin later in 2005, followed by a low rate initial production decision in 2006.
The contract also contains $11 million in options for additional test phases of the program.
The ALR-69A(V) receiver system used for the AT3 demonstration is an upgrade of the ALR-69(V), which is currently installed on U.S. Air Force C- 130, F-16, A-10, and MH-53 aircraft. See corporate release.
